The crankshaft assembly is supported by two ball bearings which are shrink-fitted in the
crankcase.
The left crankshaft bearing is lubricated by the oil supplied under pressure from the oil
pump. The right crankshaft bearing is lubricated by the transmission oil.
The Needle bearings are installed on the large and small ends of the connecting rod, assuring
smooth turning and minimum wear.

Removing.
Remove the crankshaft from the crankcase
right half by striking the crankshaft end with
a plastic or wood hammer.
9-21-2. Inspecting, adjusting and repairing
A. Crankshaft shake:
To measure the crankshaft shake, place the
crankshaft on a pair of V-blocks and read the
shake on both the right and left journals with
a
dial gauge.
Repair the crankshaft if it
shakes over 0.1 mm (0.00394 in) when turned
slowly by hand on the V-blocks.

Hold the crankshaft assembly in one hand
and strike
the shaking crankwheel with a
copper hammer until the shake is below 0.06
(0.00236 in).
