7-4. If Engine Overheats
If engine overheats at high speed running after it is broken in, check to see if the oiling
system is in good condition, the brake is dragging, or cylinder cooling fins are dirty.

Engine does not run smoothly at

high rpm.
1. Clogged or damaged fuel line
2. Dirty or improperly adjusted
spark plug
3. Improperly working contact
breaker
4. Too late ignition (Retarded)
5. Improperly adjusted carburetor
6. Dirty air cleaner

1. Improperly adjusted oil pump
control lever adjusting marks
2. Air in oil lines
3. Improper ignition timing
4. Carbon deposit in combustion
chamber
5. Carbon deposit in exhaust pipe
and muffler
6. Incorrect spark plug heat range
