Consider putting in place appropriate protective measures! Drainage of residual liquid / Self-draining ProMinent metering pumps with hygiene pump head are fitted with tightly closing ball check valves, which is why flushing liquid collects above the valves after the CIP (cleaning in place) stage. It may be necessary to implement appropriate processes to remove this flushing liquid.
Page 22
Notes on cleaning metering pumps with hygienic pump head Draining: As soon as the fluid has drained out, purge the liquid end with clean compressed air with the pump switched off (otherwise residual liquid will remain collected above the suction valve and the discharge valve).
Notes on cleaning metering pumps with hygienic pump head 3.3 Cleaning, manual 3.3.1 Cleaning valves WARNING! Possible sparking Once the large single-hinge clamps have been opened, parts can fall out of the discharge and suction valve and cause sparking. – Only open the large single-hinge clamps away from an explosive atmosphere and take care of the parts.

Notes on cleaning metering pumps with hygienic pump head Note which side of the valve seat was pointing to the ball and re- assemble the valve in the same way. The direction arrows of both connection pieces (2) must point upwards once assembled.
Notes on cleaning metering pumps with hygienic pump head 3.3.2 Replacing the diaphragm WARNING! Sparking from static charge Electrostatic sparks can jump from the diaphragm. – Only remove the dosing head outside of explosive atmospheres. CAUTION! Damage due to the possible falling of the heavy Sigma 3 dosing head (types 070410, 070580, 040830 and 041030): Weight: 32 kg.

Adhere to the material safety data sheet for the feed chemical. Ensure that the system is at atmospheric pressure. Drain the liquid end: Purge the liquid end or turn it upside down; flush through with a suitable medium.
