Maintenance
Tools needed when opening and working in the NXS include the following:
Front cover and top cover plates: Torx T8 driver
•
Hard disk mounting: Torx T10 driver
•
Protective earth terminal: Phillips-head driver
•
Spacing bolts for PC/104 cards: 7/32" hex socket/nut driver, 5mm (hex) socket/nut driver
•
Remove power from the NXS before beginning any maintenance.
Note
As needed, use the following procedures to perform maintenance tasks on the NXS controller:
Open the device (front panel),

Replacing the backup battery,
•
BIOS Setup, page 22
•
Removing/installing a CompactFlash card,
•
Replacing the SDRAM memory module,
•
Replacing the LON option board,
•
Replacing the hard disk,
•

Open the device (front panel)

The NXS contains electronic components that are vulnerable to static discharge. Therefore, take
Caution
precautionary measures before opening the device. See
Procedure 4 To open the NXS front panel
Step 1 Remove the six Torx T8 screws, setting them aside.
Step 2 Remove the front panel.
To close the device, simply realign the front panel on the frame, and refasten the six Torx T8 screws.
