How to cook with
residual heat
1
When heated cooking is fin-
ished, turn off the heat source,
place the lid on the Maho Nabé,
and place the Maho Nabé on the
supplied trivet.
Caution
● Do not touch any of the metal parts immediately
after heated cooking.

Notes on heat settings

● Due to the Maho Nabé's excellent conduction and retention of heat, you can save energy and fully
cook ingredients with low to very low heat. As cooking with high heat may damage the flavor of or burn
ingredients or damage the Maho Nabé or its handles, always use medium heat or lower. Always adjust the
heat setting to low or lower heat when cooking on a gas cooktop.
● Select the size of the heat source based on the size of the Maho Nabé, and beware of the heat setting.

The ingredients inside the Maho
Nabé retain their high residual
heat and continue to cook with-
out falling apart, spilling over, or
burning.
Caution
● During residual cooking, the ingredients inside
the Maho Nabé may be very hot, even if the
exterior surfaces of the Maho Nabé and lid are
not. Therefore, be careful when removing the
lid or carrying the Maho Nabé. Failure to follow
instructions may cause burns.

Heat setting guide and precautions for induction cooktops
● Low or very low heat: 500 W
● Medium heat: 600 to 800 W
● High heat: 1000 to 1300 W
● Very high heat: 1400 W or higher
* As heat settings differ between cooktop models, refer to the operating instructions of your induction
cooktop for details on power output (wattage).
● Place the Maho Nabé at the center of the induction cooktop.
● Cook food over medium heat until it starts to boil, and then cook it over low or lower heat afterwards.
● As the heat setting cannot be checked visually on an induction cooktop as with an open fire, be especially
careful of the setting when using cooking methods, such as preheating, pan frying, and stir frying, where
the Maho Nabé can become very hot. Using high heat may cause the Maho Nabé to deform and become
unusable.
● If the bottom of the Maho Nabé is deformed, do not use it with an induction cooktop. Failure to follow
instructions may result in improper detection by the induction cooktop's sensor or other malfunctions.
● When using an induction cooktop, the Maho Nabé may produce a low or high pitched noise due to
vibration caused by the properties of induction cooktops. This is not a malfunction. Adjust the position of
the Maho Nabé, or adjust the heat setting.
The heat level and precautions when cooking on a gas cooktop
● Low heat: a level in which the flame may go out, with a good distance between the tip of the flame and the
bottom of the Maho Nabé.
● Medium heat: a level in which the flame touches only the bottom center area of the Maho Nabé.
● High heat: a level in which the flame touches the entire bottom of the Maho Nabé.
● Very high heat: a level in which the flame extends up the sides of the However Maho Nabé.
● Always adjust the heat setting to low or lower heat when cooking on a gas cooktop.
Adjust the heat setting so that the flame does not extend beyond the bottom of the Maho Nabé.
Otherwise, this may cause fire. Additionally, this may cause damage to the handles and/or external coated
surface of the Maho Nabé.
Precautions for electric cooktops
● When using a halogen cooktop, radiant cooktop, or other electric cooktop, start cooking with low heat.
Temperature adjustment will be difficult if you start with high heat. In particular, when cooking with low
heat after bringing to boil, spillover may still occur after lowering the heat due to the high residual heat of
the cooktop itself.
● After cooking, do not place an empty Maho Nabé back onto the cooktop while the cooktop is still hot.
Failure to follow instructions may result in fire, deformation, or discoloration.
