take care not to raise dust that might be inhaled; should it be
impossible to avoid this, wear a protective mask over the mouth
and nose.
- The concrete mixer must never be used in areas at
risk for explosions or fires, or in underground excavations.
The concrete mixer is not equipped with lights, and therefore the
area where it is used must be well-lit.
Power supply lines must be installed where they will not be
subject to damage. Do not position concrete mixer over power
supply cable.
Connection must avoid any contact of plugs with water. Only
use plugs and sockets with protection against water spray.
- Do not use electrical lines that are undersized, makeshift or
without the earth wire. Consult qualified electrician if uncertain.
- Repairs to the electrical installation must only be carried out by
qualified personnel. Disconnect machine from power supply and
stop motor before starting any maintenance operations or repairs.
6. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
The IMER concrete mixer has been produced in compliance with
EN 60204-1 standards, and is protected against water spray
(IP55). It is also fitted with protection devices against voltage
drops/surges or overloading.
For installation on building sites connect the metal structure of
machine to earthing device by means of the screw (fig. 1 ref.
14) and an earth braid (or cable) with a minimum section of 16
mm² (fig. 3).
The risk of deterioration of the power cable to the electric motor
due to twisting is prevented by a stop (ref. 13, fig. 1) which
prevents the complete rotation of the mixing drum.
7. MECHANICAL SAFETY
All dangerous areas on the IMER concrete mixer have protective
casing which must be kept installed at all times and maintained in
perfect condition, e.g. the drive belt guard.
ATTENTION: Tilting of the mixing drum is regulated
by a stop (ref. 13 fig. 1) at full rotation. Do not allow any
parts of the body to be in the vicinity of this area during
tilting.
8. TRANSPORT
- The concrete mixer must not be towed on the road by a
vehicle, since its wheels are only suitable for transporting the
mixer on the building site, with the mixing drum empty.
For transport on the building site with lifting equipment (hoist or
similar), use the holes provided for this purpose on the arm (ref.
3, fig. 1) to hook it up to a double-hooked cable: the mouth of the
drum must be pointed downwards.
Move mixer manually by means of the steering gear (fig. 4).
For moving the machine by fork-lift, use the anchor points (ref.15;
fig.1).
9. INSTALLATION
The mixer is delivered ready for use.
- Install machine on flat and solid ground (maximum
admissible gradient: 5°; see fig. 5) to prevent the mixer
feet from sinking into the ground or to prevent the mixer
from overturning during operation.
During mixer installation ensure easy access for barrows under
the mixer drum for loading.
10. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
- Ensure that mains voltage corresponds to rated
machine voltage; 205 V to 240 V when the machine is
operating with a full load.
The machine power supply must be fitted with overload protection
(a thermal-magnetic circuit-breaker) and indirect c ontact
protection (a residual current type circuit-breaker, for example).
The machine must be connected to an earthing system. The

power leads must be sufficiently sized to take operating current
and cable length into account, in order to avoid risk of voltage
drops (ref. table 3 and 4)
Do not use extension cables looped around the drum.
The power lead must be the type suitable for frequent movement,
with abrasion-resistant sheathing (for example HO7RN-F).
Connect the concrete mixer plug to the power supply (ref. 11,
fig. 1). Tighten the ring nut to secure the current supply plug and
provide IP67 protection.
- The concrete mixer is now ready for operation.
11. ELECTRIC MOTOR START-UP
Connect the power supply cable to the electric panel plug. Turn
on the concrete mixer using the switch located on the electric
control panel (ref. 10. fig. 1) comprising two buttons: the green
one switches on the machine, while the red one switches it off.
The switch has minimum voltage protection: after a power failure
or accidental power loss, push the green start button to start
the machine up again. The panel is also equipped with 2 fuses
for short circuit protection: if the fuses trip off, disconnect the
power cable, remove the cover of the electric control panel by
loosening the four screws, replace the burned out fuses (same
model) and replace the cover tightening the screws.
checked by a qualified electrician.
In case of an emergency, stop the machine by pressing the red
stop button (extended), then disconnect the plug from the power
supply socket.
THERM AL PROTECTION:
thermal sensor: if overheating occurs, the motor stops. Let
the motor cool down before attempting to start it up again.
12. USE
For perfect mixing and troublefree operation, the mixer must be
installed horizontally, selecting the tilt angle suitable for the type
of mix required.
Drum tilt may be adjusted while materials are being loaded, in
order to keep the mix from dripping out of the drum.
Before beginning to load the materials inside the drum, it is best
to pour a certain quantity of water in first. When loading, insert
the various materials to be mixed alternately, in the amounts
required for the type of mix to be obtained, so as to reduce the
mixing time to a minimum.
Keep the drum running until a smooth mix having the desired
consistency is obtained.
The mix must be emptied with the machine in rotation, tilting the
drum downwards by turning the handwheel provided for this
purpose (ref. 8, fig. 1).

13. MAINTENANCE

experienced personnel, after having shut down the motor,
disconnected power supply and emptied the mixing drum.
Every two working months, check the following:
- belt tension (internal combustion engine belt),
- signs of wear on the poly-V belt or the pulleys,
- tightening of the screws securing the drum onto the gear unit,
- clean the electric motor casing, removing dirt and deposits,
- lubricate the worm screw and gear teeth with grease.
Check on a weekly basis that the contacts of the plug and
socket connector on the electrical panel are clean, dry and free
of rust.
