    Installing the ink cartridges Warning If ink gets in your eyes, wash them out with water at once, and if irritation occurs consult a doctor. Make sure that the power is turned on. The LCD shows: No Cartridge Open scanner cover... Lift the scanner cover (1) from the right-hand side of the machine until it locks securely into the open position.

Brother does not therefore recommend the use of cartridges other than genuine Brother branded cartridges with this machine or the refilling of empty cartridges with ink from other sources.

    Print quality check After the cleaning cycle is finished, the LCD shows: Set Paper and Press Start Make sure the paper is loaded in the paper tray. Press Colour Start. The machine starts printing the Print Quality Check Sheet (only during initial ink cartridge installation).

    STEP1 Setting Up the Machine Setting the date and time The machine displays the date and time, and prints it on the fax you send. Press Menu/Set. Press 0. Press 2. Enter the last two digits of the year on the dial pad, and then press Menu/Set.
