Check the display of all indica-
tor and warning lights.
ASC self-diagnosis rou-
tine not completed
ASC is not available because
the self-diagnosis routine was
not completed. (The motor-
cycle must reach a specified
minimum speed before the
system can check operation of
the wheel sensors: min 3 mph
(min 5 km/h))
If an ASC error is indicated fol-
lowing completion of the ASC
self-diagnosis routine:
It remains possible to continue
riding. It must be noted that
the ASC function is not avail-
able.
Have the malfunction corrected
as soon as possible at an
authorized service facility,
preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad Retailer.

Running in

Engine
In the period preceding the
initial inspection attempt to
change rpm and engine load as
frequently as possible, avoiding
extended periods at constant
rpm.
Try to do most of your rid-
ing during this initial period on
twisting, fairly hilly roads, avoid-
ing highways if possible.
Observe the engine run-in
speeds.

Brake pads
New brake pads must be run in
before they achieve their opti-
mum friction force. This initial
reduction in braking efficiency
can be compensated for by ex-
erting greater pressure on the
brake levers.
