FAN BELT
BAdjusting fan belt tension
To avoid personal injury:
A Be sure to stop the engine and
remove the key before checking the
belt tension.
A Be sure to reinstall the detached
safety shield after maintenance or
checking.
A deflection of between 7 to 9 mm
Proper fan belt
(0.28 to 0.35 in.) when the belt is
tension
pressed in the middle of the span.
1. Stop the engine and remove the key.
2. Apply moderate thumb pressure to belt between the
pulleys.
3. If the belt is sagging too much, loosen the alternator
mounting nuts and bolts and shift the alternator to
readjust the belt tension.
Thereafter, tighten up the above nuts and bolts.
4. Replace fan belt if it is damaged.
A If belt is loosen or damaged and the fan is damaged,
it could result in overheats or insufficient charging.
Correct or replace belt.
(1) Fan belt
(A) 7 to 9 mm (0.28 to 0.35 in.)
(2) Bolt and nut
(under load of 10 kgf (22.1 lbs))
