    MAGELLAN™ 3410VSI Use this guide to quickly complete installation of the Magellan 3410VSi series of bar code readers, and begin using your scanner. For more details and programming information, reference the Product Reference Guide (PRG), which is available for viewing and download from the Datalogic website (www.datalogic.com).

    INSTALLATION Connect the scanner to the host (terminal) using the interface (I/F) cable, as shown in the following figures. A cable from an older existing installation can be re-used for RS-232 interfaces. If external power is used/needed, plug the AC Adapter into the AC wall outlet, then connect it to the unit as shown in Figure 5 on page The USB AUX PORT will only be supported by using a 12V power supply...

    Wall/Desk Mount The Wall/Desk Mount is an accessory part to which the scanner can be attached. The accessory can be mounted horizontally to a desk, countertop, or table using screws or a gooseneck stand. It can also be mounted vertically to a wall using screws, or to a VESA mount. Installation Instructions Determine the mounting location.

    Attaching/Detaching the Scanner The scanner attaches or detaches from the Wall/Desk Mount as shown in the illustration below. Seating the Scanner in the Mount Guide the scanner diagonally down, seating the L-Bracket tabs on the Mount into the scanner’s slots. Push the scanner down to snap into place.

    Bottom Cover / Tilting Riser To remove the Bottom Cover, put your finger in the hole and pull it away from the scanner, at an angle. The snaps will disengage on that side and the cover will release from the scanner. Attach the Tilting Riser by snapping into the place of the Bottom Cover.

    HOW TO SCAN Bar codes can be presented to the scanner’s window or pushed past it using a “sweep” technique. The scanner can also be programmed to ini- tiate a scan of a cell phone or other LCD bar code object, or an image capture upon pushing the Camera Button.

    PRESS FUNCTION COMMENT DURATION Press the button momentarily to increase speaker volume. When the loudest volume is reached, a repeated press of the Momentary (when Increments volume button cycles volume back to scanner is awake) the lowest setting, then volume increases on subsequent press(es).

    LED AND BEEPER INDICATORS The scanner’s beeper sounds and its green LED illuminates to indicate various functions or errors on the scanner. The tables that follow list these indications. An exception is that the scanner’s functions are programmable, and may or may not be turned on. For example, some indications (such as the power-up beep) can be disabled using programming bar code labels.

    CLEANING Exterior surfaces and scan windows exposed to spills, smudges or debris accumulation require periodic cleaning to assure best performance during scanning. Use a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel dampened with a nonabrasive, mild, water-based cleaner to wipe away stains, smudges, fingerprints, spills, etc.
