Explosion-proof SL pumps (without cooling
jacket), installation type S, must always be
completely submerged in the pumped
liquid to the top of the motor. See fig.

For explosion-proof SE pumps (with
cooling jacket), installation type C, the
pump housing must always be completely
covered by the pumped liquid. See fig.

For a short period, the pump may be used
to pump down the liquid level to remove
the float layer. For explosion-proof pumps,
do not let it go below the stop levels shown
in fig. Liquid levels.
To ensure adequate motor cooling, the following
minimum requirements must be met:
• Installation type S: the pump must be completely
submerged in the pumped liquid to the top of the
motor. See fig. Liquid levels, level 1.
• Installation type C: the pump housing must be
completely covered by the pumped liquid. See fig.

• Installation types D and H:there are no special
requirements for the level of the pumped liquid.
