3.3 Functional description

The "Unibox E BV" is a wall box unit working
without auxiliary energy and serves the individ-
ual room temperature control in surface heating
systems. The "Unibox E BV" is used in low
temperature heating systems with a max. flow
temperature of 55 °C.
The "Unibox E BV" is installed in the supply
pipe of the individual rooms.
The heating water volume flow is divided into
two partial volume flows, a thermostatically
controlled volume flow and a bypass volume
flow. A basic heat load can be set with the help
of the bypass volume flow. This will prevent a
complete cooling down of the heating surface
if the thermostatically controlled partial volume
flow is closed due to the influence of other heat
sources, such as sunlight or electrical appli-
ances. The thermostatically controlled partial
volume flow thus corresponds to the maximum
possible heat proportion supplied by other heat
sources. A permanent basic heat load which
does not only support the self regulating effect
but also minimises the inertia of the surface
heating when the room temperature changes,
is guaranteed. Hydronic balancing, i.e. setting
of the total heating water volume flow which is
required to cover the heat load of the room, is
carried out at the regulating insert.
