Using your Baumatic cooker hood The control panel o Before using the cooker hood make sure that it has been installed by a suitably qualified person, as per the information contained in Baumatic’s installation instructions. o Find the control panel, which is located at the front of the cooker hood.
HOOD TEN MINUTES BEFORE YOU START TO COOK, OR AT THE VERY LEAST WHEN YOU BEGIN COOKING. YOU SHOULD ALSO RUN YOUR HOOD FOR TEN MINUTES AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED COOKING. Setting intensive or normal mode o You can set your cooker hood to run in normal or intensive mode.
o If you press the timer button whilst the cooker hood is in operation, then it will countdown for 15 minutes. o During the countdown the number on the LCD display will flash. o It is possible to adjust the speed that the cooker hood is operating at whilst it is on a countdown.
o If your cooker hood is operating in recirculation mode, then a carbon filter will need to be fitted. o After approximately 120 hours of operation, a “C” will flash on the LED display when you switch the cooker hood on. o You should follow the “Fitting the carbon filters”...
Cleaning your Baumatic cooker hood IMPORTANT: BEFORE CLEANING, ALWAYS ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE SWITCHED YOUR COOKER HOOD OFF AT THE OMNI-POLAR SWITCH, SET AT THE WALL FROM THE MAINS CABLE. Cleaning o Clean the external parts of your cooker hood with mild liquid detergent and a new damp cloth.
Maintenance Removing and cleaning the grease filter IMPORTANT: BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN THE GREASE FILTER, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE DISCONNECTED THE COOKER HOOD FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY. o Soak the grease filter in hot water and washing up liquid for about an hour.
IMPORTANT: BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE DISCONNECTED THE COOKER HOOD FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY. o Prior to touching the light bulbs ensure they are cooled down. o Find the bulb that requires replacement, you will find it located in the light fixture which is on the underneath of the cooker hood.
If the appliance is going to be used in recirculation mode then it is necessary to fit a carbon filter. This will help to absorb unpleasant odours caused by cooking. IMPORTANT: BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO FIT OR REMOVE THE CARBON FILTER, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE DISCONNECTED THE COOKER HOOD FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY.
5) Squeeze the clips on one side of the carbon filter, until it clicks firmly into place. o To remove the carbon filter in future, you will need to press the clips and then pull the carbon filter downwards away from the rectangular opening.
YOUR COOKER HOOD IS INTENDED FOR FITTED AND PERMANENT INSTALLATION. o If not supplied the power cable must be connected to the terminals marked L (live) and N (neutral) in the hood and fixed with a cable clamp. o The cooker hood’s power cable must be fitted upstream from the electrical connection, using an omni-polar switch with a contact distance of at least 3 mm.
o Check that the product purchased is of a suitable size for the chosen installation area. In addition check whether there is an electrical socket available that will be accessible once the hood is mounted. If the product is going to be used in extraction mode, then there should also be space to connect a ducting hose to the outside.
IMPORTANT: YOU WILL HAVE TO DECIDE BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR COOKER HOOD WHETHER TO USE IT IN EXTRACTION MODE OR RECIRCULATION MODE. PLEASE TURN TO PAGE 28 NOW TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE TWO MODES. o The cooker hood should not be exposed to a direct heat source from the cooking device underneath it, i.e.

Please note that in future diagrams the securing plate will be shown w squared ends, however the one supplied with the ISL4SS is as shown in this diagram. IMPORTANT- THE SECURING PLATE MUST BE INSTALLED THIS WAY UP WHEN BEING PLACED AGAINST THE CEILING.

3a) IMPORTANT: The securing plate will only secure to the frame in one position (see diagram 3a). You should position the securing plate on the ceiling so that when the frame (and eventually the cooker hood) are fixed to it, the control panel will face the direction that you require.

5) Take the 4 corner pieces and using a screwdriver; securely tighten one corner piece to each corner of the cooker hood’s motor. 6) Take the 4 frame sections and then screw through them into the bracket which connects them together. The bracket should be fixed approximately halfway down the frame sections, although some minor adjustment may be required depending on your specific installation needs.

on each frame section; otherwise the bracket will not be level. o IMPORTANT: Please take care to make sure that the clip on each frame section faces the direction shown in the diagram below. They must face outwards to be able to locate over the cut outs in the securing plate, later in the installation.

IMPORTANT: From this step onwards, the hood must be fully supported from underneath UNTIL step 9 has been completed and the cooker hood is fully secured to the framework. 8) Lift the cooker hood fully upwards to the inside of the securing plate and then slide it over.

9) With a screwdriver, fasten the frame to the securing plate on each corner. You must make sure that these screws are tightened fully. 10) Raise the upper chimney section upwards towards the securing plate. With a screwdriver, fasten the upper chimney section to the end of the triangular section on either side of the securing plate.
It should have a cross section of at least 150 cm² (please note that the ducting hose is not supplied with the appliance but is available from the Baumatic Spares Department). o The maximum distance between the coupling and your discharge outlet should be 3 metres, with one 90 degree bend.
Do I need a charcoal filter? All cooker hoods have a grease filter but if you are using your cooker hood in recirculation mode, then a charcoal filter must be fitted in addition to the grease filter.
Troubleshooting IMPORTANT: If your cooker hood appears not to be operating properly, before contacting the Baumatic Service Department, please refer to the checklist below. My cooker hood will not start. o Check that the hood is connected to the power supply and whether you have selected any of the fan speeds.

Baumatic Ltd will provide free of charge the parts required to repair the appliance, only if they are fitted by a Baumatic engineer, for any defect that arises due to faulty materials or workmanship within a period of 5 years from the original purchase date.
