Preparing for
LPR/LPD printing
11. Click the Have Disk... button. Insert the printer driver diskette/CD
that was provided with your printer, select the appropriate
diskette/CD drive and click OK.
12. Select the printer driver you want to install and click Next>.
13. Enter an appropriate name for your printer and click Next>.
14. Choose whether you want to share the printer with other network
users and click Next>.
15. Choose whether you want to produce a test page and then click
Finish.
This section describes how to set up a Windows 2000/XP server for
LPR printing over the TCP/IP protocol, using the built-in Microsoft
LPD monitor i.e. Print Services for Unix.
See Alternative Method for LPR Printing, on page 49 for instructions
on how to set up printing over LPR without installing Print Services
for Unix.
If you have not already done so, you should perform the TCP/IP basic
setup procedures prior to installing a printer for LPD printing.
Follow the following steps to prepare for LPR/LPD printing:
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
4. Check Other Network File and print Services and click Details.
5. Check Print Services for Unix and click OK.
6. Click Next and Finish.
