12. Preparing the Lightband to be compressed

Before the MLB is compressed it is imperative that the Sliding Tube is able to move fully radially inward and
contact the Motor Bracket Assembly deploy hard stops per step 8.1.3 and Figure 8-2. This section is typically
executed after unpacking the Lightband.
Step
Contacting only the top surfaces, push the Sliding Tube radially outward

(towards the motors). Then, while maintaining force on the Sliding Tube, use
a 7/64 inch hex key to rotate the ball screw clockwise as shown in Figure
12-1. Maximum torque is 1 in∙lb. Rotate until the Sliding Tube begins to
move and there is ~0.1 inch gap between the Sliding Tube and Motor
Bracket as shown in Figure 12-2. Note this will require approximately 35 full
revolutions.
Return to step 8.1.3.
