BIOS Power-On Self Test (POST)
Overview
AMIBIOS provides all IBM-standard POST routines as well as
enhanced American Megatrends routines. AMIBIOS POST
supports CPU internal diagnostics. POST codes are accessible via
the Manufacturing Test Port (I/O Port 80h).
POST Phases
When the system is powered on, AMIBIOS executes POST
routines. The POST phases are:
System Test and Initialization (test and initialize motherboards for
normal operations) and
System Configuration Verification (compare defined configuration
with hardware actually installed).
BIOS Error Reporting
If...
the error occurs before
the display device is
initialized,
the error occurs after

Then...
a series of beeps sound. Beep codes
indicate that a fatal error has occurred.
