AMIBIOS Power-On Self Test
AMIBIOS provides all IBM-standard POST routines as well as enhanced POST routines. POST supports
CPU internal diagnostics. POST codes are accessible via the Manufacturing Test Port (I/O Port 80h).
POST Phases
When the system is powered on, AMIBIOS executes POST routines. The POST phases are:
System Test and Initialization (test and initialize motherboards for normal operations) and
System Configuration Verification (compare defined configuration with hardware actually installed).

the error occurs before the
display device is initialized,
the error occurs after the
display device is initialized,

a series of beeps sound. Beep codes indicate that a
fatal error occurred. The Beep Codes are described
on the next page.
the error message is displayed. Displayed BIOS
error messages are explained on page 51. A prompt
to press <F1> can also appear with displayed error
messages.
