The Hoefer ™ HE 33 horizontal agarose unit
is intended for rapid electrophoresis of small
quantities of nucleic acids in agarose gels. A
gel is cast in the gel caster, which holds one or
two combs. (Eight different combs are avail-
able; a maximum of 32 samples can be run
if two 16-well combs are used.) After the gel
sets, the running tray is transferred to the plat-
form of the horizontal unit. The base of the
unit holds coolant that can be chilled before
the run. This passive cooling capacity allows
fast, high voltage runs.
