1.3 Field of application of the product
1.3.1 Intended use
The Smart Camera Box is used to connect PoE end devices such as IP cameras to a video
server. You can use the Smart Camera Box to supply voltage to PoE end devices and ad-
ditional external devices.
The Smart Camera Box has been designed for fixed installation indoors or outdoors.
You will find the approved accessories with the product at phoenixcontact.net/products.
1.3.2 Product changes
• Changes, additions, or conversions to the Smart Camera Box are not permitted.
• Opening or changing the included components is not permitted.
• Modifications to the hardware or firmware are not permitted.
• You can install devices on the DIN rail integrated into the Smart Camera Box. The in-

Incorrect operation or modifications can endanger your safety or damage the
Smart Camera Box. You may not repair the Smart Camera Box or its components yourself.
• If the Smart Camera Box is defective, please contact Phoenix Contact.

Safety notes

• Installation, operation, and maintenance may only be carried out by qualified electri-
cians. Follow the installation instructions as described.
• When installing and operating the device, the applicable regulations and safety direc-
tives (including national safety directives), as well as general technical regulations,
must be observed. The technical data is provided in the packing slip and on the certifi-
cates (conformity assessment, additional approvals where applicable).
• Error-free and safe operation of the Smart Camera Box can only be ensured through
correct transport, storage, assembly, mounting, installation, startup, operation, and
maintenance. Observe the permissible ambient conditions.
