EMC-compliant installation
The EMC compliant installation of the device and the use of interference proof cables form
the basics for error-free operation.
Disturbance
EMC applies to the following disturbances:
● Pulse-shaped disturbance on PSB-S and PSB-C modules
● Pulse-shaped disturbance on the PSB-S module
PSB modules
Operating Instructions, 03/2014, A5E03474166-03
The following table shows the EMC of the PSB-S and PSB-C modules with regard to
pulse-shaped disturbance.

Burst pulses
high-speed transient
disturbance
to IEC 61000-4-4
Note
Wherever power is distributed from extended 24 V DC power circuits to the PSB
modules, you need to take appropriate measures to prevent the coupling of strong pulsed
electromagnetic interference on the power and signal cables. Strong electromagnetic
pulses could be generated by lighting strike, for example, or the switching of a large
inductive load.
The EMC tests for proving immunity to electromagnetic interference of the PSB modules
include the "surge immunity test" according to EN 61000-4-5. The power and signal
circuits must be protected for this test by means of surge protection elements. The Dehn
lightning protection units listed in the table below are used accordingly.
The following table shows the EMC of the PSB modules when exposed to high-energy
single pulses. The specifications apply to the lightning protection units of Dehn & Söhne
GmbH & Co. KG, Hans-Dehn-Str. 1, PO Box 1640, 92306 Neumarkt, Germany.
