Faults
Oil escapes.
Gearbox over-
heats.
Geared motor only
starts with difficulty
or not at all.
Excessive play at
drive input and
output.

Causes
Shaft sealing rings defective.
Cover / flange bolts loose.
Surface sealing defective (e.g. on cov-
er, flange).
Damage in transit (e.g. hairline cracks). Check the gearbox for damage in
Frequent cold starts during which the
oil foams up.
Motor fan cover and / or gearbox very
dirty.
Excessive bearing play and / or bear-
ing defective.
Power or speed too high
Excessive external load on the drive
input and output.
Motor brake is not released.
Flexible elements worn (e.g. on cou-
plings).
Positive connection disrupted by over-
load.
Remedy
Replace the shaft sealing rings.
Checking tightness of fastening bolts
(Page 37). Continue to monitor the
gearbox.
Reseal.

Clean the fan cover and surface of the
geared motor (Page 37).
Check the bearing and replace if nec-
essary.
Adhere to data on rating plate.
Check the load against rated data
(you might need to correct the belt
tension, for example).
Check circuit / connection of brake.
Check brake for wear and readjust if
necessary.
Replace flexible elements.
