ENTER KV (80, 120, 140):
UNIX must be halted prior to loading software on a CT9800 HTD system. Loading software while
UNIX is running will cause the SBC to hang and the AP to fail during initialization. If the system
does initialize successfully, errors may occur while running applications. Before, performing a
LFC on an HTD system, run DOWN from R-level, then check the LED's on the SBC. If the LED's
are "walking", UNIX is running. If a single LED is flashing, UNIX is halted.
2. Format the Disk:
Note:
For ARGUS or ACE Disk Drive systems (DA0, DA1):
To run the formatter for ACE, refer to chapter 4, section 3-9 (ACE General Diagnostics). For Argus refer to
the diagnostic abstract listing for information on running the program.
For ZEBRA Disk Drive systems DZ0, DZ1):
The formatter program records the required Block Identification, Header and Synchronizing markers on to
the disk magnetic media. For more detailed information of program operation refer to Program Listing
Abstract in DTOS #1 Manual. Assuming the disk pack is at room temperature, the time required for this
procedure for Single ZEBRA system is 2 to 7 hours (dependent on the number of passes run). Time for
Dual ZEBRA system is twice the Single ZEBRA time.
1. Ensure the disk pack is at room temperature (in the same environment as the disk
approximately 24 hours).
2. Turn computer, disk drive and tape drive power ON.
3. Mount the disk pack on the drive and START the drive. Allow at least 45 minutes for the disk to spin.
This allows for proper warm-up. If disk pack is not properly warmed, errors will result.
4. Refer to Section 3-5 of this manual (initial Zebra Disk Drive Check) for Zebra Disk Drive format
procedure.
NOTE: If disk pack is a new pack run 6 passes of formatter to ensure quality of the pack. If reloading on
an
existing site pack, formatter may be stopped after FORMAT DONE (approx. 20 min.) if the
