Configuring the Adapter
with SCSISelect
The AHA-398x RAID adapter has an onboard SCSISelect configura-
tion utility, which allows you to change adapter settings without
opening the computer or handling the adapter board. The factory
default settings for the AHA-398x are correct for most computers;
however, there may be cases in which you need to modify the set-
tings. This chapter describes the default settings, explains when you
should change them, and gives instructions for doing so.
SCSISelect also includes SCSI utilities to list the SCSI IDs of devices
on the AHA-398x, format SCSI disk drives, and check them for
defects. Instructions for using these utilities are included.

Default AHA-398x Settings

AHA-398x RAID adapters have the default settings shown in the
following table. Some settings apply to the RAID adapter or chan-
nels; other settings apply individually to each device on the SCSI
bus. The default settings are appropriate for most PCI-bus systems.
For situations where you might want or need to change the settings,
see the descriptions of each setting in the following sections.
