3.5. Installation under Windows 2000
3.5.1. Installing in an Existing System
Once the RAID controller is properly installed and you restart your system,
Windows 2000 will find a new device while booting up, a so-called "PCI RAID
Controller". You will be asked to install a new driver. – Insert the driver CD in your
CD drive and let Windows 2000 look for the driver.
-
Follow the instructions of Windows 2000.
-
Click on "Finish" to terminate driver installation.
-
When asked to reboot your system, click on "Yes".
-
After rebooting, driver installation is finished and all the drives connected
to the RAID controller are available for use.
-
You can now partition and format the disk array. Please follow the
instructions of the manufacturer of your operating system.
You can verify the installation by opening the device manager under "SCSI
Controller", where the entry "Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATARaid Controller" should
be found. If this is not the case, open the "RAID Troubleshooting" section of this
manual.
Notice:
If you wish to connect your current bootable Windows 2000 system
from another controller to your DC-154 RAID, you first have to install
Windows 2000 driver software before connecting the hard disk to your
DC-154 RAID!
3.5.2. New Windows 2000 Installation
-
Create a driver diskette (see chapter 3.1)
-

-
In the course of the installation, you will be asked to press "S" for additional
drivers. Insert your finished driver diskette now and follow the instructions on
the screen.
