2.4.2.2.
F2 – delete RAID
This function allows you to dissolve an existing RAID array. Depending on
the type of the RAID set, data written thereupon is irretrievably lost:
-
deleting a "Mirror Set" only causes loss of RAID configuration data; in the
following, the two drives of the original RAID set are at your disposal with the
same contents each.
-
deleting a "Stripe Set" or a "Mirror-Stripe Set" causes loss of all data written
thereupon; as it was spread onto all participating drives. The individual
drives would therefore only contain incoherent data fragments. RAID
configuration data is deleted and partition tables of the drives in question are
initialized.
-
deleting a "Spare Drive" only causes RAID configuration data to be deleted,
the drive will be at your disposal again with its original data contents in the
following.
Before the selected RAID is deleted for good, a "Yes"/"No" query ("Delete
RAID set?") occurs; the RAID set is then deleted or the process itself discontinued.
