3. Installation of Drivers
3.1. Creating a Driver Disc
New installation under Windows NT4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP
requires a driver disc. This can be created using the included CD-ROM. Boot via the
driver CD and follow the instructions on the screen. A 3, 5"diskette is needed. As it will
be formatted during the copying procedure, it should not contain any data.
3.2. Installation under DOS
Your hard disk drives are introduced to the operating system by the Dawicontrol
DC-154 RAID BIOS. Driver installation under DOS is therefore not necessary.
3.3. Installation under Windows 98/ME
3.3.1. Installing in an Existing System
Once the RAID controller is properly installed and you restart your system,
Windows 95/98/ME will find a new device while booting up, a so-called "PCI RAID
Controller". You will be asked to install a new driver.
-
Insert the driver CD into your CD drive and select the drive.
-
Click on "FINISH" to complete driver installation.
-
When asked to restart your system, click on "Yes".
-
After rebooting, driver installation is finished and all the drives connected to
the RAID controller are available for use.
-
Now you can partition and format the disk array; please follow the instructions
of the manufacturer of the operating system.
You can verify the installation by opening the device manager under "SCSI
Controller", where the entry "Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATA RAID Controller"
should be found. If this is not the case, open the "RAID Troubleshooting" section
of this manual.
3.3.2. New Windows 98/ME Installation
The new installation corresponds to the usual installation on the motherboard.
