3.1

Intended use

The extension set 1 687 846 016 contains adapter
accessories (mechanical connector adapters and
electrical adapter cables) for connecting and testing
passenger car common rail injectors from third-party
manufacturers in conjunction with CRI 846 / CRI 846H.
The extension set 1 687 846 016 is intended for the
following passenger car common rail injectors:

Delphi solenoid injectors
R
Denso solenoid injectors
R
Siemens / VDO / Continental piezo injectors

Solenoid injectors are referred to as CRIs and piezo
injectors as piezo CRIs in the following.
The extension set 1 687 846 016 supplements the
existing supplementary equipment set 1 687 010 333
(supplementary equipment set for piezo common rail
injectors) and accessory set 1 687 010 186 (accessory
set for non-Bosch injectors).

How to connect and test injectors is described in the
original operating instructions CRI 846 / CRI 846H
and in the original operating instructions of the
supplementary equipment set 1 687 010 333 and
the accessory set 1 687 010 186. Observe all the
instructions therein.

Test sequences (test values)

The test sequences with setpoints and tolerances for
Delphi CRIs, Denso CRIs and Siemens / VDO / Conti-
nental piezo CRIs are not included in the extension set
1 687 846 016.
The local database of the EPS 945 software contains
sample test sequences (Delphi: EJBRxxxxxx, and Den-
so: 095000xxx...) for testing Delphi CRIs and Denso
CRIs. These sample test procedures contain test steps
pre-defined by Robert Bosch GmbH without any set-
points and tolerances for injected fuel quantities and
return quantities being stated. Measure these test
values yourself or look them up on data sheets and
enter them into the sample test sequence. How to call
up and edit a test sequence is described in the online
help of the EPS 945 software and the original operation
instructions of the accessory set 1 687 010 186.

The sample test sequences for Delphi CRIs (EJ-
BRxxxxxx) and Denso CRIs (095000xxx...) are
copied into the local database of the EPS 945 soft-
ware on initial commissioning of the accessory set
1 687 010 186 (see original operating instructions of
the accessory set 1 687 010 186).

Testing of Delphi CRIs and Denso CRIs is identical to
testing Bosch CRIs and may differ from the specifi-
cations of the third-party manufacturer.

Denso sample test sequences have a resistance
value at the end of the type-part code (e.g.
095000xxx_>2,5 Ohm). That resistance value indica-
tes the coil resistance of a new injector. For creating
the test sequence, select the sample test sequence
matching the coil resistance of the injector.

possible to use test sequences with setpoints and
tolerances by the information provider Refdat from
