2. Operation and safety instructions

DANGER
Before carrying out any operation on the equipment, it is necessary to read the entire manual carefully,
especially this chapter.
Look after this manual carefully and consult it repeatedly while using the UPS.
2.1

General notes

The equipment has been made for the applications given in the manuals. It may not be used for purposes other than
those for which it has been designed, or differently from those specified.
2.2

Definitions of "Skilled Technician" and "Operator"

2.2.1 Skilled Technician

The professional figure who will carry out the installation, start up and ordinary maintenance is called "Skilled Technician".
This definition refers to people who have specific technical qualification and are aware of the method of installing,
assembling, repairing, commissioning and use of the equipment.
In addition to the requirements listed in the paragraph below for general operators, the Skilled Technician must be qualified
in accordance with the safety regulations in force in the country of installation on the measures to implement when working
in presence of hazardous voltage. He must also use the Personal Protective Equipment required by the safety regulations in
force at the country of installation for all the activities indicated in the installation and maintenance manual

2.2.2 Operator

The professional figure assigned to the equipment for normal use is called "Operator".
This definition refers to people who know how to operate the equipment as described in the user manual and have
undergone training that gives them authorisation to operate in accordance with the safety regulations on the risks that
the presence of dangerous electric voltages can entail.
The operator shall consult the user manual at any time. He shall also follow the requirements provided to achieve
maximum safety for himself and others during all operating phases.
Some typical activities the operator is expected to carry out are:
- the use of the equipment in its normal operating status and the restore after it shuts down;
- the adoption of the necessary provisions for maintaining the quality performance of the UPS;
- the cleaning of the equipment;
- cooperation with personnel responsible for extraordinary maintenance activities.
2.3

General warnings

CAUTION
The UPS was built for civil and industrial uses. It cannot be used for purposes other than those indicated in the
manual.
Whad HE 3000-4000-5000-6000 has a pass-through neutral architecture (the status of the output neutral is the same as
the input neutral).
CAUTION
If any visible damage is found on the product during the unpacking operation, do not carry out the installation and
do not use. Pack the UPS and hand it back to the retailer or distributor.
The accessories supplied include:
- user and installation manuals;
- connectors, protection cover, cable fastener and corresponding screws;
- RS232 serial cable.
Check the packaging to make sure that all the accessories are included.
DANGER
The UPS works with dangerous voltages.
All the installation operations must be carried out exclusively by SKILLED TECHNICIANS.
Extraordinary maintenance operations must be carried out by LEGRAND Technical Support Service personnel.
DANGER
Do not open the UPS. Inside there are components under dangerous voltage, even when the unit is disconnected
from the power network.
No part of the UPS can be repaired by the operator.
