Step 11 - Specify Weld Motion
Immediately after Trigger (or Melt Detect) occurs, the press changes vertical travel speed
to the values set for Weld Motion. With Weld Motion Control set to Speed and Weld Profile
set to Constant, set the desired Speed. Typical weld speeds are in the range 0.010-0.060 in/s
(0.25-1.5 mm/s). One method for estimating weld speed is to divide the desired weld collapse
distance by the expected weld time - the result is the average speed.
Figure 7-13
Advanced users can optimize the weld speed using a Weld Profile to produce superior weld strength
and excellent cosmetic appearance. This can be accomplished using the Segmented Weld Profile.
This feature allows a user to create a speed motion profile during the weld cycle. The profile can
Step 12 - Set Ultrasound Amplitude
A typical initial ultrasound weld amplitude setting is 100%. The range for this feature is
between 20% and 100%.
