USB DEVICE CONNECTION
The XStream™ X5 has a USB 2.0 port on the rear panel for eupdating the
firmware on the controller. The latest version of firmware is available on the
Support Center. For instructions on updating the firmware, refer to the firmware
update procedure available in the zipped folder of the firmware update file.
Ethernet Port
The XStream™ X5 has has an Ethernet port that can be used for connecting
the X5 to the network in wired mode. In addition, the Ethernet port is used to
configure the X5 using the SCS-C5 configuration software over the network.
The Ethernet port is also used for 3rd party integration with Russound's
proprietary IP protocol, RIO. Refer to the RIO protocol document, available on
the Support Center, for more details.
When the X5 is connected to the local network, the network's DHCP server
assigns two IP addresses to the X5: 1 host IP address (controller) and 1 for the
media streamer. The Host (controller) IP address is then entered in the SCS
start-up screen to enable configuration over IP.

The Host (controller) IP address can be seen on the MDK-C6 keypad. From the
keypad's Home screen, choose Settings, then Installation. From the Installation
menu, choose Network settings to see the controller's IP address and MAC
address.
During the DHCP process, messages may appear in the IP address window:
LINK DOWN - the Ethernet port is not detecting a link
DHCP WORKING - DHCP attempting to acquire an address
DHCP FAILED - DHCP was unable to acquire an address or no DHCP server
UNKNOWN ERROR - error other than DHCP failure
To restart DHCP, the Ethernet cable must be disconnected and reconnected to
the XStream™ X5, or you may power cycle the controller.
