6 - ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

This chapter describes routine maintenance, i.e. operations carried out by the operator, on the log splitter to keep it in perfect working order and
therefore reliable for continuous, long-term use.
All routine maintenance operations must be carried out with the machine off and in the case of log splitters with electric motor with the power cable
disconnected.
Any other maintenance operation not specifically envisaged in this manual must be carried out by authorised personnel only in
that hazardous situations may arise for which the operator is not prepared.
In the case in which extraordinary maintenance or part replacement operations are not carried out by authorised personnel, the
guarantee shall be immediately null and void and the manufacturer shall be relieved of any responsibility for injury to persons
or animals or damage.
6.1 - How to clean the oil filter (fig.6, page 3)
To keep the machine in perfect working order, the oil filter of the hydraulic system must be cleaned thoroughly every 200 hours of operation.
With the appropriate spanner, unscrew the hexagon screws (1 in fig.15) that lock the cover (2) of the filler inlet (8) on the oil tank (9). During
this operation hold the cover (2) in order to prevent the spring (4) contained in the filter, let it fling in the air
Remove the screws and slowly remove the cover (2), the seal (3) and the spring (4)
Remove the filter (5) from its plastic housing (6) then remove also the housing (6) and its seal (7)
Clean all the parts with petrol, particularly the filter (5) and inside the plastic housing (6). If possible, blow the filter (5) with compressed air
Insert the filter holder (6) in its seal (7) and replace them on the filler inlet (8)
Insert the filter (5) in its holder (6) and the spring (4) in the filter seat
Place the seal (3) in its slot in the cover (2). Inside the cover (2) there is a spring guide slot: when closing the cover, pay attention that the spring
(4) is located inside this slot and in the filter one
Press the cover firmly by matching the screw holes, then tighten the screws, making sure that the seal (3) is in its seat.

6.2 - How to change the hydraulic oil

The waste oil must be replaced with new oil of the type indicated on page 20 every 600 hours of operation.
To change the oil, proceed as follows.
Make sure the log pusher on the machine is fully retracted.
The oil recovery pipe is located next to the oil tank (2 in fig.4, page 3). Place a receptacle, able to hold around 10 liters of oil, under the oil drainage
plug.
Unscrew the nut on the pipe using a suitable spanner, remove the pipe and let all the oil in the tank drain into the receptacle.
When the tank is completely empty, clean the outlet with petrol, reinsert the pipe and tighten the nut.
The oil tank holds about 5.5 L of oil.
Remove the oil plug (2 in fig.3, page 3) and refill the tank with a suitable oil (oils to be used are listed on page 20).
Execute several work cycles without logs in order to release any air that may be present in the hydraulic circuit.
Use the oil rod to check the right quantity of oil (fig.4, page 3).
Clean the inlet of the oil plug and replace the plug.
WARNING:
NEVER MIX OIL WITH GENERAL WASTE! USED OIL MUST BE DISPOSED OF ACCORDING TO CURRENT REGULATIONS IN THE
COUNTRY WHERE THE MACHINE IS USED.

6.3 - Sharpening the wedge

After long periods of operation and when required, sharpen the wedge of the log splitter.
