Hoisting equipment

DANGER! Before you install, remove, inspect, or perform any maintenance on a
hoist, the main switch must be switched to off position. Lockout and tagout the
main switch in the off position in accordance with ANSI Z244.1. Follow other
maintenance procedures outlined in this manual and ASME B30.16.
Before you lift the module using the lifting beam and chain hoist, check the following
issues:
There is no debris on the load that can dislodge.
Condition of the lifting beam, hoisting system and hooks.
Surfaces where the operator stands and operates the system are clean and stable.
Lubrication
The hoist gear case comes completely pre-lubricated with grease.
The load chain requires lubrication prior to first use. Chain lubricant is included with
shipment of each new chain hoist.
Operating the hoisting equipment
Operator requirements:
Below-the-hook lifting devices can only be operated by trained and designated
personnel.
The operator must know how to attach the hoists to the load (including any special
adapters) and perform any required adjustments.
The operator must be aware of any special operations or precautions.
The operator must be aware of the manufacturer's suggested operating procedures.
The operator must be aware of the condition of the load, including any deviations to
center of mass.
The operator must be aware of the proper storage of the hoisting equipment.
The operator must demonstrate the capability to operate the hoists before attaching
any load to them for lifting.
