INSTALL SPRING ISOLATION

Spring isolation may be purchased as an accessory from Carrier
for field installation. It may also be field supplied and installed.
Spring isolators may be placed directly under machine support
plates or located under machine soleplates. See Fig. 11. Consult
job data for specific arrangement. Low profile spring isolation
assemblies can be field supplied to keep the machine at a conve-
nient working height.
Obtain specific details on spring mounting and machine weight
distribution from job data. Also, check job data for methods to
support and isolate pipes that are attached to spring isolated
machines.

NOTES:
1. For spring installation follow
manufacturer's
instructions.
Set chiller on all springs in
one rig; jacking one end out
of level will result in excess
loading on springs and may
cause damage.
2. The accessory spring isola-
tors are supplied by Carrier
for installation in the field if
the accessory is purchased.

NOTE: The springs are designed to support the weight of the
chiller only. Connected piping must be supported independently of
the chiller.
NOTE: It is recommended that any installation other than the
ground floor should have spring isolation for the chiller and piping
vibration isolation.
NOTE: These isolators are not intended for seismic duty, but are
intended to reduce the vibration and noise levels transmitted
from the chiller to the surrounding environment. For installa-
tions adjacent to areas that are sensitive to noise and/or vibration,
use the services of a qualified consulting engineer or acoustics
expert to determine whether these springs will provide adequate
noise/vibration suppression.
