OLSW Features OLSW Features The OffLine Separator Water OLSW is used to remove oil from water-based washing liquids, which are contaminated with mineral oils (density < 900 kg/m³). Coalescing procedure The dewatering works according to the coalescence principle, during which the oil collects on the fibers of the coalescing element and is conveyed deeper into the coalescing element by the fluid flow.
The coalescing elements must be protected from contaminant particles by a pre-filter so that the transport of oil drops is not obstructed by contaminant particles. HYDAC recommends the use of a WombatFilter WBF as pre- filter. For details, see www.hydac.com. Restrictions Pertaining...

Installing the OLSW Installing the OLSW Install the OLSW vertically using brackets or similar. Use at least four screws M10 (X) to fasten the OLSW. Make sure to leave 700 mm room above coalescing tank to remove the coalescing elements. OLSW Page 23 / 44 en(us)
Installing the OLSW Notes on pipes and hoses In order to keep the pressure loss as low as possible, use as few threaded connections as possible. The pressure loss in a hydraulic line depends upon: • Flow rate • Kinematic viscosity •...
Installing the OLSW Water inlet / outlet Use pipelines or hoses to connect the OLSW to your system. The flow limiter at the WATER OUTLET connection regulates the volumetric flow to Q = 20 l/min. A control pressure of at least 2 bar is required for this purpose. The maximum permitted pressure in the coalescing housing is 6 bar.
Installing the OLSW Setting Up the Electrical Connection DANGER Electric shock Danger of fatal injury ► The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Observe the regulations in EMC Directive 89/336 EEC and Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC, as well as corresponding EN standards such as VDE/electric utility Directives and local or national regulations.
Commissioning the OLSW Commissioning the OLSW Before the OLSW is put into operation, it must first be connected hydraulically and electrically, as described in the above chapters. Prior to start up, the coalescing elements must be inserted in the coalescing tank.
Performing maintenance Breather maintenance The breather is a float-controlled valve whose job it is, once installed, to vent any air or other gases in continuous operation, which have collected to a maximum level in liquid-filled containers or pipes or aerate the system when the fluid level is dropping.
Performing maintenance Check breather functionality NOTICE Breather not working The filter area of the filter elements is not being used to its full potential. ► Check the functionality of the breather at least once a week. Actuate the drain valve on the DRAIN OIL connection in order to check the function of the breather.
Performing maintenance Cleaning breather / Replacing parts Clean the breather at least once a year. The required replacement parts can be found in a maintenance set on the spare parts list on page 36. To clean or replace the parts with the repair set, proceed as follows: Detach the drain line to the breather.
The system of rods is stiff due to dirt or If the error cannot be corrosion. remedied, contact HYDAC. The float is too heavy because of silting. OLSW Page 32 / 44 en(us) MoWa OLSW 3587900a en-us 2018-08-17.docx...
Performing maintenance Changing the coalescing elements 1. Close the ball cocks at INLET WATER and OUTLET WATER connections. 2. Empty the oil and water present in the coalescing container through the drain DRAIN into a suitable reservoir. 3. Release the electrical connection to the phase boundary sensor by rotating counter-clockwise (1) and then pull apart (2).

Performing maintenance 5. Unscrew the three star grips (10.5) and remove the element holding plate (10.4) by lifting them upward. Remove the coalescing elements and dispose of them in an environmentally friendly way. Insert the new coalescing elements (10.1) into the housing. Do not use a hammer, etc.
Decommissioning the OLSW Decommissioning the OLSW To take the OLSW out of operation, proceed as follows: Close all shut-off devices on the OLSW. Drain the coalescing housing completely. Remove all coalescing elements from the housing. Dismantle the OLSW from the system. Disposing of the OLSW When decommissioning and/or disposing of the filter housing, observe all local guidelines and regulations pertaining to occupational safety and...
