24D-2 REFRIGERATOR
system is to measure the number of amps
drawn by the compressor when connected to a
120-volt source.
This is done by removing one of the com-
pressor
leads and connecting
a 0-5 A .C.
ammeter in series with the compressor (figure
2). A reading of 2 amps should be read for the
six cubic foot model and approximately 2 .6

amps for the seven and one-half cubic foot
model .
If the amperage reading is high, this is an
indication the system is undercharged.
If a
low
reading
is
obtained
the
system
is
overcharged
If it is determined that the
system is under or overcharged, the entire
cooling system must be replaced.
