System time

36
The wireless gateway receives the system time from the host system and forwards it
to the connected wireless components. The availability of the host system and/or the
NTP server, which can be configured via the host system for the wireless gateway, is a
requirement for ensuring the long-term accuracy of the system time for the wireless
gateway and the wireless components.
Depending on the host system, configuration of an NTP server for the wireless gate-
way may be available.
After disconnecting from the mains and after performing a restart, e.g. after updating
the wireless gateway firmware, the gateway requires up-to-date time information. In
the event that the host system and/or the NTP server cannot be reached, the wireless
gateway does not have access to valid time information. Wireless components do
not accept invalid time information but operate to their internal clock until the wire-
less gateway has received up-to-date time information and has transferred it by ra-
dio.
In the event of a power failure and following a restart, it must be ensured that the
wireless gateway is receiving time information from the host system and/or the NTP
server.
