Managing WAV Files

Bitbox comes with hundreds of WAV files bundled with the firmware. You can load WAV files into cells in order to add them to
a preset. We talked about how to configure cells previously in this document. Here we will discuss what tasks you can perform
to manage the WAV files themselves and what types of tools you can use to edit Loop Points, Slices and other attributes
stored in the WAV file.

Edit WAV File Tags

In addition to the audio content, bitbox can use some additional information stored in WAV files by other audio tools. When
you load a file with this embedded information into a cell, it will initially load these settings for the cell. You can override the
slice and loop point settings for this cell by changing the cell parameters. These changes do not change the information
stored in the WAV file. The table below lists the tags that bitbox can read and which editing tools can be used to add this
information to a WAV file in a way that bitbox can use.
Tag
Description
Cue Points
Bitbox will use Cue Points as the initial setting for slices.
Bitbox will load information about the root note and the number of
Acid Tags
beats in the file from the Acid Tags. Information about the number of
beats helps bitbox more effectively quantize clips.
Smpl Tag
The Smpl tag tells bitbox where the loop points are.
If you have made changes to these parameters in a cell and want to revert back to the values stored in the file, reload the file
into the cell.

Delete a WAV File

When you use bitbox to delete a WAV file, that file is removed from the microSD card. This file will no longer be available for
use by presets. This means that any presets that previously used this WAV file will no longer include this WAV file. To delete a
WAV file:
1.
Touch a loaded cell on the Main screen to display the Waveform Screen.
2.
Touch the name of the WAV file at the top of the screen to display the WAV Edit
screen.
3.
Use the control knobs to scroll to the WAV file you want to delete. You may need
to load directories to navigate to the file you want to delete.
4.
Touch Edit to display the WAV Edit menu.
5.
Touch Delete to delete the selected WAV file.
6.
You can scroll through the list of WAV files and continue to delete additional
files.
7.
You can Load a different WAV file from here as well.
8.
Touch the back arrow <- to exit the screen.
