Before You Start
A microSD card must be inserted into toolbox
before you can get started. All presets are stored
on the microSD card. Preset changes are only
saved when you choose to save them.
Overview
Toolbox offers touchscreen control of sequencers,
function generators and CV controllers that provide
CV and MIDI outputs for use in controlling other
modules. Toolbox by itself does not generate any
sound.
The Main screen shows an array of cells that can each
contain a sequencer, function generator or CV
controller. The cells of the array are mapped to the
input and output jacks below the screen. The cells in
Column 1 (on the left) show the state of the CV
Modulation Inputs. Note that CV Mod In 4 also
controls playback.
You can configure each cell in columns 2 through 5 to contain one of the following:
Name
Description
GATE
A sequence of gate signals displayed in a grid of cells where the color of the cell
Sequencer
indicates whether the signal is on or off at that step in the sequence.
NOTE
A piano roll style sequence of notes displayed with the keyboard running down
Sequencer
the left side, and the sequence steps scrolling from left to right.
Low Frequency
A variable control voltage generated by a cycling mathematical function, such as
Oscillator (LFO)
a triangle wave, ranging from -5V to +5V.
CV Sequencer
A variable CV voltage generated by drawing a bar graph on the touch screen,
(SEQ)
with a range of 0 to +5V.
CV Recording
Record incoming CV signals from the CV1 and CV2 inputs. After the recording is
(CREC)
completed, automatically changes to a CPLY.
CV Playback
Plays back a control voltage signal that was recorded via CREC or from an
(CPLY)
imported WAV file.
CV Output
Use this with a CPLY cell to play back an additional channel from the WAV file
(OUT)
loaded in the CPLY cell, for a total of up to 8 channels.
Start Playback of the Sequencers and Function Generators
To control playback of the sequencers and function generators:
1.
Press the HOME button to display the Main screen.
2.
Touch Play in the lower left corner of the screen to toggle playback on and off.
Note:
Connect the outputs of Toolbox to a module that generates sound, such as Synthbox, to hear playback.
You can also use CV Mod In 4 to control playback. Each high signal received on CV Mod In 4 will toggle playback on and
off.
Work with Presets
A preset is a set of pre-configured sequences, function generators, CV controllers and modulators. You can use the 1010music presets
or create your own.
Select a preset from the Main screen by touching + and – at the top of the Touch Screen on either side of preset name.
To save changes to a preset, touch the preset name, Edit, then Save.
To create a new preset, touch the name of the preset on the main screen, and then touch New. Touch Edit and then
Rename to provide a name for the preset.
