Closing the Lid
1. Ensure that the sealing ring is properly fitted in
the lid.
2. Check the permeability of the valves.
3. Please look at the appliance from above to
place the lid onto the appliance. Set the lid onto
the housing so that the closing mechanism is
on the left at the stop next to the condensate
collector.
4. Turn the lid all the way in the CLOSE direction
up to the stop.
5. Ensure that the pressure
regulator is fitted in the
correct position on the
valve.
To build up pressure, turn
the pointer of the steam
pressure control to
PrESSUrE (see Fig.).
Opening the Lid
WarNING: Danger of scalding!
• Use oven gloves or a spoon.
• Keep your face away from the lid.
• For food with a lot of liquid, like soups or stew,
always wait until the appliance has released
the pressure completely by itself before
you open the lid.
1. Switch off the appliance with the
2. Disconnect the mains plug from the wall socket.
3. Wait for approx. 5 minutes, until the appliance
has released all pressure by itself (also called
natural depressurization).
4. Do not pull off the pressure regulator! Turn it
carefully to STEaM. The steam escapes from
the valve of the pressure regulator. The pres-
sure is released.
5. Wait until no more steam escapes.
6. When the float valve has dropped down, you
can open the lid of the pressure cooker. Turn
the lid in the OPEN direction to remove it.
Tips
• Do not prepare food with milk in the pressure
cooker. Milk boils and sticks to the valves in the
lid!
• To reduce the build-up of foam when cooking
beans, add a small piece of butter or a table-
spoon of oil to the water. This also applies to
the cooking of rice.
• The cooking time does not have to be extended
for frozen ingredients. Building up of pressure
will take longer. However, the preset cooking
time always starts only when the pressure has
been built up.
• Leave the lid open when you want to roast meat
before cooking it. Add a little oil instead of water
and select, for example, the cooking program
MEAT. When the desired degree of browning
has been reached, proceed as described in the
recipe.
CaUTION:
Do not leave the appliance unattended dur-
ing roasting!
• In the case of recipes with alcohol, this must
be evaporated before the lid is sealed.
• In order to check the doneness of a cooked
tongue, pierce the meat on the tip or on the
underside which does not contain any skin. If
the beef/pork tongue is cooked, cool off under
cold water. Allow the tongue to cool somewhat
button.
so that you can hold it. The skin can now be
removed, best starting from the end to the tip of
the tongue.
Measuring Cup
• Use the supplied cup when you want to cook
rice.
• The measuring cup (CUP) together with the
water level scale (CUP) in the pot insert is de-
signed to determine of the quantity of rice and
water. For example, if you want to cook
6 cups, pour 6 cups of rice into the pot insert
and then fill in water up to the corresponding
(CUP) marking, in this case 6.
