ENGINE WILL NOT START

Possible Cause
MAIN switch is in the OFF position.
Out of fuel.
Bad fuel, generator stored without
treating or draining gasoline, or
refueled with bad gasoline.
Low engine oil level caused Oil Alert
to stop engine.
Spark plug wet with fuel (flooded
engine).
Spark plug faulty, fouled, or
improperly gapped.
Fuel filter restricted, fuel system
malfunction, fuel pump failure,
ignition malfunction, valves stuck,
etc.
MAIN switch is left in the ON position
without starting the engine within 30
minutes.
CO-MINDER (CO Shut-off System) is
detecting high carbon monoxide (CO)

(see page 25).
Refuel (see page 20).
Drain fuel tank (see page 89).

page 20).
Turn the MAIN switch to the OFF

Take the generator to an authorized
Honda Power Equipment dealer, or
refer to the shop manual.
Turn MAIN switch to the OFF position
once and then to the ON position.
Review the location of the generator,
such as by placing it in a well-
ventilated outdoor location (see page

When the engine is stopped
automatically by CO-MINDER, press the
CO-MINDER reset button to restart the
engine (see page 56).
