BEFORE OPERATION

AIR FILTER CHECK

1. Open the left maintenance cover by turning its latch counterclockwise.
2. Unsnap the air cleaner cover clips; remove the air cleaner cover.
PAPER AIR FILTER
3. Foam air filter:
a. Remove the foam air filter from the air cleaner cover.
b. Check the form air filter to be sure it is clean and in good condition.
If the form air filter is dirty, clean it as described in page 78.
Replace the form air filter if it is damaged.
c. Reinstall the form air filter in the air cleaner cover.
4. Paper air filter:
a. Remove the guide.
b. If the paper air filter is dirty, replace it with a new one.
Do not clean the paper air filter.
5. Reinstall the guide and the air cleaner cover.
6. Close the left maintenance cover.
Operating the engine without the air filters, or with a damaged air filters, will allow
dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine wear. This type of damage is not
covered by the Distributor's Limited Warranty.
