HIGH COOLANT TEMPERATURE

TRIGGER-ON:
"Check Engine Coolant Sensor" alarm not active (if so, refer to alarm 129 first) and:
Ambient temp below 48.9°C (120°F) and engine coolant temperature rises above 110°C (230°F) or
Ambient temp above 48.9°C (120°F) and engine coolant temperature rises above 116°C (241°F) or
Ambient temperatures equal to or below 48.9°C (120°F) and engine coolant temperature is between
110°C and 116°C (230°F and 241°F) for more than 5 minutes
UNIT CONTROL:
RESET CONDITION: Auto Reset if the engine coolant temp falls below 100°C (212°F), or alarm may
be manually reset via keypad or by turning the unit off, then back on again.
NOTE: Follow the steps below until a problem is found. Once a repair or correction has been made, the active
alarm should clear itself (refer to reset condition above). Operate the unit through the appropriate modes to see if
any active alarm occurs. Continue with the steps below as necessary.

Check Coolant Level
a. Check coolant level in overflow
bottle.
b. Check coolant level in radiator
c. Inspect connecting tube between
overflow bottle and radiator.

Check Freeze Point Of Coolant
a. Use Coolant Tester to check con-
centration of anti-freeze mixture.
Check Airflow Through Radiator / Condenser Coil

a. Inspect condenser / radiator fins.
b. Check airflow.
c. Check condenser fan rotation /
operation.

Check Water Pump Belt
a. Check engine water pump belt.

ALARM / CAUSE
Engine operation: Shutdown and alarm.
Standby operation: Will not activate in standby.
WARNING
Do not remove the cap
from a hot radiator; if the
cap must be removed, do
so very slowly in order to
release the pressure with-
out spray.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Level must be in the normal range.
Level must be at the top of the radiator fill tube.
Connections must be airtight. No leakage or holes in
tube.
Must be between 40% to 60% Ethylene Glycol to water
mixture.
Fins must be straight. 90% or more of the coil surface
must be undamaged. No "dead" air spaces. Condenser
/ Radiator coil must be clean (refer to Section 8.6.3).
Even airflow through the entire coil. No "dead" spots.
Fans should operate correctly. Air should be drawn in
through the grill, and directed into the engine com-
partment.
No Glazing, cracking or slipping.
