To avoid out-of-balance!

Resharpen the cutters (1) uniformly
– do not alter the contour of the
parent blade (2) in any way.

After resharpening about 5 times,
have blade checked on STIHL
balancer** and rebalanced as
necessary.
Circular Saw Blades 225, 250
Chisel tooth circular saw blade:
:
Sharpen as described in the
instructions supplied or printed on
the inside of the blade's packaging.
Scratcher tooth circular saw
blade:
:
Use a flat file to file the backs of the
teeth until the tips of the teeth are
restored to full sharpness.

Grass cutting blade 255-8
:
Resharpen when the tips of the
cutting edges (3) have worn down to
about 3/64" (1 mm) (A).
Measurements and angles for
resharpening
:
Leave clearance of 1/8" (3 mm) (B)
between cutting edge and parent
blade. Radii R1 and R2 should be
7/64" (2.5 mm) and are obtained
automatically if you use the
specified file* and maintain a filing
angle of 30° (C).

Sharpen cutting edges as shown by
the lines (D) in the illustration.

Use the sharpening template
0457 342 2636 provided.
:
Sharpen the cutting edges (3) at the
tips. Maintain a sharpening angle of
30° (A).
:
File back the cutting edges parallel
to the lines on the sharpening
template.

Do not sharpen cutting edges (4)
even if they are nicked in places.
