There is no adjustment available for the power‑assisted steering pump stretch‑belt. If the belt becomes loose or noisy it has
worn out and must be replaced. See your Cummins MerCruiser Authorized Repair Facility.

Serpentine Belt Inspection

The 2.0 diesel engine is equipped with a stretch‑belt that is used to drive the power‑assisted steering pump. This belt must be
removed to service the serpentine belt. Stretch‑belt service and maintenance procedures differ significantly from those that apply
to standard accessory drive belts. Should the serpentine belt need replacement consult your Cummins MerCruiser Authorized
Repair Facility.

Inspect the belt for proper tension and for the following:
Excessive wear
Cracks
NOTE: Minor, transverse cracks (across the belt width) may be acceptable. Longitudinal cracks (in the direction of belt
length) that join transverse cracks are not acceptable.
Fraying
Glazed surfaces

Check the operation of the automatic tensioner and associated components.

Position a suitable tool on the automatic tensioner pulley bolt.
