1.5 Example Platen Open Signal Detection Circuit

1) The example circuit for detecting the platen open signal is as shown in Figure 1.5.1.

2) To detect a platen open, sample the signal in a cycle of 1 ms or less. If open is found, the platen is
unloaded.
3) Energizing an unloaded print head for a long period may shorten its life.
4) Never drive the paper feed motor when the platen is unloaded (mechanical switch off).
