Check of Cylinder Head
1. Checking cylinder head
1) Check cracks or damage of the cylinder head.
2) Remove carbon from the bottom surface of the cylinder
head. Here, be careful not to scratch the valve seat
surface.
CAUTION
Be careful not to scratch the valve seat surface.
3) For cracks or damage which cannot be checked with the
naked eye, perform the hydrostatic test or the magnetic
particle testing.
Note) Hydraulic test is same as for cylinder block.
2. Distortion at the lower face
1) Measure the amount of distortion using a straight edge
and a feeler gauge at six positions as shown in the figure.
2) If the measured value exceeds the maximum allowable
limit, replace the cylinder head.
