About removing and replacing appliance power cable
This document describes how to replace an appliance power cable while the appliance is operating.
One of the power cables must be operating at all times. If both power cables must be removed at the
same time, the shutdown procedure must be performed on the appliance before a power cable is
removed.
This repair can be accomplished with the appliance installed in the rack.
Locating the appliance with the faulty component
Use the following steps to locate the appliance with the faulty component.
To locate the appliance with the faulty component
Verify the appliance serial number. The serial number is located on the rear panel of the appliance
and begins with the letters VTAS.
You can also find the serial number in the pull out tab on the front of the appliance.
Removing a faulty power cable
Use the following procedure to remove a faulty power cable.
To remove a faulty power cable
Disconnect the faulty power cable.
For a 5150 Appliance, the power supply connector is highlighted as seen in the following figure:
