FAQ
General performance and operation
What should I do if the kneading blade comes out with the bread?
Remove it with a pair of plastic tongs before slicing the bread. Since the blade and pan can be
separated, it is normal for the blade to remain lodged in the bread on occasion.
Why does the bread have flour on the side crust at times?
In some cases, the flour mix may remain on the corners of the bread pan. When this happens, it
usually can be eaten or simply trimmed with a sharp knife once the bread has cooled.
I can hear the motor running, but the dough is not mixing. Why?
Either the kneading blade or the pan may not be securely inserted. Make sure the pan is facing
the correct way, and that it has 'clicked' into place at the bottom of the bread maker.
Why can't I use the timer when baking with fresh milk?
The milk will spoil if left sitting in the bread maker for long periods. Fresh ingredients such as
eggs and milk should never be used with the delayed timer feature.
Why do I have to add the ingredients in a certain order?
This allows the bread maker to mix the ingredients in the most efficient manner possible. It also
serves to keep the yeast from combining with the fluid before the dough has started to mix,
which is essential to the time delay.
When setting the timer for the morning, why does the machine make sounds late at
night?
The machine is set to start when the time delay reaches the start time of the programme so that
the bread will be ready on time.
The kneading blade is stuck in the bread pan. After baking, how do I get it out?
The kneading blade may 'stick' in place after baking. Running warm or hot water over the blade
should loosen it enough to be removed. If still stuck, soak in hot water for about 30 minutes.
Is the bread pan dishwasher safe?
No, the bread pan and kneading blade must be washed by hand.
What happens if I leave the finished bread in the bread pan?
If left in the bread maker after the baking process completes, the bread 'keeps warm' for the
first hour to prevent moisture spoiling the result.
Leaving the bread in the bread maker after the 'keep warm' period expires may result in a
'soggy' loaf of bread as excess steam (moisture) cannot escape. Remove the bread and allow
to cool on a wire rack after baking to prevent this.
Why did the dough not mix completely?
The dough may be too heavy or dry, the kneading blade or bread pan may not be correctly
inserted, or the ingredients may not have been added in the correct order.
Why didn't the bread rise?
The yeast may be bad, past its sell-by date or may have been omitted when adding the
ingredients. Also, if the mixing was not completed fully, rising problems may result.
Why can't the delayed finish be set for more than 13 hours? What is the minimum time a
cycle may be delayed?
The maximum delay time is 13 hours, which includes the total cycle time. For example: Setting
1 (basic small) has a cycle time of 3:20. The start may be delayed by a maximum of 9:40.
