Installing the Patch Panel on the Rack

Step 3
Install the 8 or 12 (4 or 6 per side) 12-24 x 3/4-inch or 10-32 x 3/4-inch screws through the holes in the bracket
and into the threaded holes in the equipment rack posts.
Step 4
Use a tape measure and level to verify that the chassis is installed straight and level.
Installing the Patch Panel on the Rack
A patch panel serves as a static switchboard, using cables to interconnect networks and manage fiber optic
cables. A patch panel uses patch cords, to create each interconnection. Circuits can also be rearranged by
plugging and unplugging respective patch cords. Patch cords connect the ports in the patch panel to ports in
the network switch, which creates permanent port connections to the switch. Patch panels are based on the
number of ports they contain, with 48-port, 24-port and 12-port panels.
