5. TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
Decreased service flow
capacity
Decreased quality of
treated water.
Clogged filter bed.
Filter media entrainment.
MEDIA SYSTEMS
®
CAUSE
1. Decreased supply water pressure.
2. Clogged filter bed.
3. Obstructed/clogged drain line.
4. Clogged control valve.
5. No Hard Water Bypass Valve failure
(if installed).
1. Faulty chemical analysis of water.
2. Supply water chemistry has
changed.
3. Bypass is in bypass position.
4. Riser pipe or seals are damaged.
5. Clogged filter bed.
6. Filter media loss due to entrain-
ment.
7. Poor/improper filter bed regener-
ation.
8. Leakage of raw water inside the
control valve.
1. Insufficient backwash flow rate.
2. Insufficient backwash stage
duration.
3. Clogged top distributor.
4. Excessive backwash flow rate.
1. Filter media is entrained and carried
away during backwash stage.
2. Filter media is entrained and carried
away during service.
CORRECTION
1. Increase supply water pressure.
2. See par. 3.
3. Inspect and clean the drain line.
4. Take apart, inspect and clean the
control valve.
5. Inspect and repair the valve.
1. Perform one more test using freshly
prepared reagents.
2. Make new check analysis and if
changed contact your dealer.
3. Turn bypass to operating position.
4. Take apart the conditioner, repair/
replace the pipe and replace or lubri-

6. See par. 4.
7. See par. 6.
8. Take apart the control valve, inspect
and replace or lubricate the seals if
needed.
1. Check backwash flow rate. If supply
pressure is within the limits and the
flow rate is insufficient, inspect and
clean the drain line flow control or
replace it if needed.
2. Increase the duration of backwash
stage.
3. Clean the top distributor.
4. Check backwash flow rate. If supply
pressure is within the limits and the
flow rate is exceeding, change drain
line flow control (contact your dealer).
1. Inspect the top distributor. Replace
if needed.
2. Inspect the bottom distributor.
Replace if needed.
